Celebrate National Tortilla Chip & Margarita Day at Jalisco Mexican Grill
The week of February 21 is very special. On February 22, we celebrate National Margarita Day. Then, on February 24, we celebrate National Tortilla Chip Day. Enjoy these two unofficial holidays at Jalisco Mexican Grill!

The margarita as we know it was created in 1938 in Mexico. Carlos “Danny” Herrera owned a restaurant that served Marjorie King, a famous dancer in the hit American theatrical broadway show “Ziegfeld Follies.” Marjorie King wanted to enjoy a drink at Carlos “Danny” Herrera’s restaurant, but she was allergic to spirits. However, she wasn’t allergic to tequila. Using his creativity, Carlos “Danny” Herrera whipped up the beloved margarita.
Did you know 76 percent of Americans enjoy margaritas? This is likely because margaritas come in countless flavors. While lime is the classic flavor, strawberry, peach, mango, and berry are other common concoctions. At Jalisco Mexican Grill, our house margarita is made with Sauza Gold Tequila, citrus juices, and a hint of Blos Orange Curacao. You can order our margaritas either on the rocks or frozen.
The tortilla chip we know and love was actually created as an afterthought. It was made from leftover tortillas that weren’t going to use, but the crispy treat became a nationwide sensation soon after. Today, we use this salty treat to eat our favorite dips or enjoy nachos. Try our nachos at Jalisco, which are made from cheese, your choice of meat, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, and jalapenos. We also serve queso dip, guacamole dip, and crab and spinach queso dip.
Visit Jalisco Mexican Grill on February 22, February 24, or both! Come celebrate margaritas and tortilla chips with us at 8389 S Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, Florida.
